The Longer Table Cooking Classes

An initiative of the Greater Arnprior Community Council on Poverty and Homelessness, The Longer Table will be hosting a four (4) month series of cooking classes focusing on transforming simple ingredients into tasty meals. Participants will take a few hours to prepare meals which will be cooled, frozen and distributed to the Arnprior and District Food Bank for their clients.

Tamarack Summit for Strength

In conjunction with the Tamarack Institute and the Renfrew County Community Poverty Action Network (CPAN), we will be hosting a day-long, in-person community event for local stakeholders on April 27th, 2023. The theme of the Summit for Strength is to convene communities across Canada to co-create a plan for resiliency that moves beyond ending poverty and toward economic mobility in ways that honour people, partnerships, and planet. Programming will include panel discussions including local community leaders and a virtual Tamarack workshop session on community resilience and the social role of local government.

Webinars

The Greater Arnprior Community Council on Poverty and Homelessness (GACCPH) hosted three (3) free panel discussions over the month of April 2022 to discuss local options and considerations regarding the current housing crisis in our community. Pre-recorded panel presentations were followed by live Question and Answer (Q&A) sessions with the speakers. All pre-recorded panel presentations are now available on the GACCPH YouTube channel.

Local Alternatives to For-Profit Housing

About the GACCPH

The Greater Arnprior Community Council on Poverty and Homelessness (GACCPH) was created in 2021 by the Town of Arnprior, community members and stakeholder groups, following the adoption of the 2020 Ad Hoc Committee on Poverty and Homelessness’ Final Report entitled “The Path Forward on Poverty and Homelessness in the Greater Arnprior Area”. The Final Report outlined fifty-two (52) recommendations to address the interconnected issues of poverty and homelessness in the Greater Arnprior community. The Final Report itself is available on our website at www.gaccph.ca.
